Two Kinds of People You Meet

When we are in the harvest, there are many kinds of people that we meet.  We come across atheists, and we find fully-devoted believers, but most of the time, we find someone within the wide spectrum between those extremes.

Years ago, I was told that the best people to find were "God-prepared people."  These would be most apt to receive the message and act upon it. Sadly, we find very few of those around--but they are out there! However, the Lord reminded me recently that we find two kinds of people in the harvest:  God-prepared people, and the people that God uses us to prepare.  That second category of people tend to be red lights and are hard to reach!  But the Lord of the Harvest uses us to plant seeds in them that others may harvest later.

In November 2012, I led an Asian lady named Quynh to the Lord. I had shared the Gospel on the Hand with her one time, and on that day she heard the message clearly.  She was a God-prepared person that promptly received Christ!

When Judy began discipling her, Quynh shared that she had never heard the gospel before--but she had seen it in action.  Ten years earlier, while on a train far from home, Quynh had trouble sleeping.  A Christian lady reached out and offered to pray for her to be able to sleep. Quynh slept peacefully that night, but she never forgot the compassion of that lady. To this day, that unknown lady has no idea that Quynh has become a child of the King--and not until glory will she ever know.  But God used her to prepare Quynh.  Don't ever forget that your witness is never wasted.

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."  Isaiah 55.10-11 (ESV)
